Moletai – one of the oldest cities in Lithuania, is the administrative center of the district. It houses the Moletai Local History Museum, where you can get acquainted with the history, customs and preserved historical monuments of the Moletai Region. The first mention of Moletai dates from the end of the 14th century (1387).

Moletai can be called one of the pearls of Lithuania. The reason for this – amazing beauty and purity of nature, fresh air and unique landscapes. A significant territory is occupied by forests, Asveia and Labanor regional parks, and there are 300 lakes. The main attraction of the Asveia  Park is the observation deck, from which a breathtaking view opens up to the longest lake in Asveia in Lithuania, stretching for 22 km. Not only the nature of the park is wonderful, but also its cultural and historical heritage. Here is an exposition of the excavation of the Radziwill Palace and the ruins of the medieval church of the Evangelical Reformers, in the crypt of which the remains of the most important persons of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania XVI-XVII century. And several members of their families. In the house of the former tavern of the beginning of the XIX century the tourist information center of the park is located. There is an exposition of natural and cultural objects located on the territory of the park. Also tourists can get information about tourist routes, parking lots, hotels, cafes and restaurants. The subject of pride Labanor regional park is Labanor bop. This is an unusual forest: it has centuries-old trees, and picturesque swamps, and chains of lakes. In total, the park has 285 lakes, from small, several hundred, mysterious eyes to large reservoirs. Here lies one of the largest lakes in Lithuania – Aisetac. Therefore, you can travel around the park not only by car, bicycle or on foot, but also by kayak! During the walks, watch the birds. In the park are found wood grouse, eagles-fish, predatory shrouds and many other species including rare birds. In the Moletai region there are many mounds: Yanyonyay, Aukshtakalnis (Antakshuyu), Maishyakule, Pyalyanyi, Smalyakalnis (Pirkalyai), Yodasis Kalnas (Culenai), Dubingiai mound (Dubingiai castle, battles with swordsmen and the Reformation center). You can also see the magnificent architectural and historical monuments: the church and inn in Alanta, the bastion castle in Baltadvarya, the Moletian church, the church and the Augustinian monastery in Vidianiškiai, the cemetery chapel with the bell tower in Rudyas, the church with the bell tower in Inturka, the chapel of the mausoleum of Elensky, Estate Arnenis. The most interesting and most visited place in the Moletai district is the only ethnocosmological museum in Europe. Using a telescope with a diameter of 40 centimeters you can observe the stars and heavenly bodies. And from the tower of the review of the ethnocosmological museum a fascinating panorama of the landscape of the Moletai Region opens. Guests and tourists are invited by the Dubingiai Equestrian Club (Manege). The Manege is remarkable not only for the huge 1500 sq.m. Square, but also a unique wooden construction of the dome. There is a small hotel and a restaurant at the club. Sitting on the open terrace of the restaurant, you can watch the horses on the field site, located behind the arena. It is not often possible to find a 4-star hotel located on the shore of the lake. “SPA HOTEL BELVILIS” invites you to cozy rooms, apartments, in a restaurant distinguished by its exquisite menu. The whole Moletai district comes alive during traditional events: the Holiday of the city of Moletai, the Fair of Autumn Gifts and Crafts, the spring holiday of the revival “Yore”.
