A 2-day tour to the only Lithuanian port city – Klaipeda. We will visit the cozy Old Town of this city, which  has a regular network of streets and the architecture of fachwerk buildings typical of Germany. You will be surprised by the abundance of charming sculptures. On the Klaipeda castle site we will learn about the history of this city and the castle. In the Blacksmith‘s museum we will get acquainted with the blacksmithing art typical of this region. At the Švyturys Brewery we will go on a tour of the history, production and tasting of this drink or visit the only Clock Museum in Eastern Europe. The next day we will dedicate ourselves to getting to know the marine world – we will spend time in the Lithuanian Maritime Museum, watch the show of dolphins and watch the roar of the Baltic Sea waves.

Sea and wind city

A 2-day tour in the only Lithuanian port city Klaipėda we will start from its Old Town, which is proud of its regular network of streets, and the streets named after the craftsmen who worked here: blacksmiths, bakers, shoemakers. The fachwerk architecture that keeps pace with German cities adds charm to this city. Small wonders are hidden in the most unexpected places of the Old Town: Dragon, which tells the legend of mystical origin of Klaipėda‘s name, a cat with a gentleman’s face has secret powers.

The heart of Klaipeda is the Klaipeda Castle. The castle stood in Klaipeda as the first time mentioned in historical sources in 1252.. Next to one of the most impressive sculptures in Klaipeda, which even fascinated the rock legend Alice Cooper, we will hear the legend of “Ghost” and learn how it relates to the castle. The ramparts and bastions that have survived authenticity of 16th-18th c. in the dungeons will introduce the development of Klaipeda castle and city. We will hear the history of Klaipeda during the Second World War in the former of warehouse explosives, hiden from historians and archaeologists for a long time . The interactive Museum 39/45 is now established.

Klaipėda region was famous for its blacksmithing works, not in vain, the Old Town had a street named in honor of blacksmiths. In the blacksmith museum we will see hand-forged items of the most famous blacksmiths of Klaipeda, authentic tools used by blacksmiths, bellows. In the museum we will find only forged weather vanes typical of the port city. Here we will not only learn about the life of blacksmiths, but we will also be able to stay with them and try to make Curonian jewelry according to old jewelry technologies.

We will visit the Švyturys brewery with more than 200 years of history and experience. Experienced guides during the tour will introduce you to the main brewing processes, traditions and innovations. Under one roof we will see the whole process of beer birth – from beer brewing, fermentation to bottling. Beers prepared for tasting, unexpected combinations of food and beer that surprise even experienced gourmets.

Or visit to the only Watch museum in Eastern Europe. We will try to answer the question of what time it is. Developed civilizations have long tried to know time, learn to count it, and manage it. After visiting the museum’s exposition, we will make sure that counting time is not so simple that different nations understood it differently, and we will learn that a unified system of counting time appeared only in the 19th century we‘ll get acquainted not only with the history of the sun, water, fire, sand, mechanical clocks, but also travel through different epochs of art.

The next day we will visit the funniest museum in all of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Maritime Museum. Visiting dolphins, seals, penguins and other marine animals while visiting Klaipeda is becoming a tradition for many. The Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium, located in the historic Nerija Fortress, invites you to get to know the mysterious world of waters. The museum’s aquariums feature freshwater, Baltic, North and tropical marine ecosystems, as well as an 18m acrylic tunnel that makes it feel like underwater and watch spectacular sea creatures from below.

Klaipeda Dolphinarium is the only one on the entire eastern Baltic coast. This is a great opportunity to meet the Black Sea dolphins living here the dolphins, whoich will surprise you with their tricks and entertain with the desire to play and joke.

In the museum located at the northernmost point of the Curonian Spit, we will also find expositions of marine nature and shipping history, which are constantly being filled. The exhibits are presented in an innovative way, using the latest technologies. Before leaving this city – we will visit the Baltic coast, see the sea gate, through which seaports reach and leave the port, because Klaipeda is a city of sea and wind.
